Knee Replacement Surgery

Total knee replacement (also called knee arthroplasty) is a common orthopaedic procedure that is used to replace the damaged or worn surfaces of the knee. Replacing these surfaces with an implant or “prosthesis” will relieve pain and increase mobility, allowing you to return to your normal, everyday activities.

The traditional approach to knee replacement uses a long vertical incision in the center of the knee to view and access the joint. Minimally invasive total knee replacement is a variation of this approach. The surgeon uses a shorter incision and a different, less-invasive technique to expose the joint—with the goal of reducing postoperative pain and speeding recovery.

Unlike traditional total knee replacement, the modern approach is to perform surgery with a multidisciplinary team which helps patients recover quicker than before

Get better soon is a refined method of enhancing recovery after knee replacement surgery. Mr. Moholkar has been performing knee replacement surgery using this technique since 2005 and has updated this as he went along over the years.

In years bygone, patients has to suffer the pain of knee replacement surgery, which also had an impact on the overall early results. GBS is a pathway executed by multidisciplinary team comprising of Mr. Moholkar, his anaesthetist-Dr. Gowni, the physiotherapy team led by Lesley Hall and Tina Turner RGNurse as a front line force. The process is also helped by the pre-operative assessment team, General physician, dietician, discharge liaison nurse and many more health care professionals.
