After training on the North Western & West Midlands Specialist Registrar training programme, Mr. Moholkar took up the post of Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in December 2004. He has completed a fellowship from the United States of America and a Sports Fellowship from Australia . He has a broad base of various aspects of Knee and Shoulder surgery (Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty) and a special interest in Total, Unicompartmental & Patello-Femoral Knee Replacement using Computer Assisted approach.

Mr Kirti Moholkar FRCSI (Tr & Ortho), Diploma Sports Medicine, MS, MCh is a Fellowship-trained Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon offering a range of surgical procedures for the knee and shoulder, including arthroscopic investigation and treatment of joint problems, knee and shoulder arthroplasty (joint replacement), cartilage and meniscal repair, knee ligament repair and rotator cuff repair.

He specialises in total, unicompartmental, and patello-femoral knee replacement using patient-specific techniques and prenavigated jigs where required.

Mr Moholkar’s NHS practice is at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham, where he performs about 400 procedures each year. He sees private patients at a number of hospitals in the West Midlands, including the Droitwich Knee Clinic and BMI The Priory and Edgbaston Hospitals.
Training and experience

Mr Moholkar received his primary medical qualification from Bombay University where he graduated in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery. Not soon after, he embarked on a Knee Arthroscopy and Arthroplasty Fellowship in Adelaide, Australia and a Knee and Trauma Fellowship in Denver, Colorado, where he gained extensive knowledge and experience in knee arthroscopy and trauma knee surgery. After training as a specialist registrar as part of the North Western and West Midlands programme, Mr Moholkar was appointed as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in 2004, following which he joined the Droitwich Knee Clinic in 2005.
Clinical interests

Mr Moholkar specialises in Medial Pivot Knee replacements using Enhanced recovery techniques (to help patients recover faster) and patient-specific Prophecy jigs, a subject on which he has presented at national and international events and conferences in Ireland, the USA, Australia, the UK, Amsterdam, Belgium, and Paris.
Research interests

Mr Moholkar is a principal investigator in a recently started cartilage cell surgery trial to study the effectiveness of Novocart in articular cartilage defects.
